First class handling for first class glass products -
Riedel Glass is a world-famous manufacturer of finest glasses for both technical and hedonistic purposes, located in Kufstein, Tirol. Eleven Riedel family generations have led the company’s successful path, for Riedel products today are sold in 125 countries all over the world – in the US, Great Britain, Japan, Australia and China even by trading companies owned by Riedel.
By merging the logistics center in Schneegattern with brand-warehouses of Riedel, Nachtmann and Spiegelau and the e-business warehouse, Riedel Glass enhances stockyards to 16,000 square meter. The warehouse-management-system dilos supports the newly established paperless warehouse management with many innovations like dynamic ABC-classifications for mapping of seasonal fluctuations in sales and multi order picking for the simultaneous picking of up to 16 different orders at a time. By connecting the ERP-System AS400, delivery partner UPS and two dispatchers, dilos is the central control unit in distribution to ensure that first class products are stored and shipped first class as well.

Due to the sustained growth, warehouse logistics in Blaufelden had to be expanded: In the newly built high bay warehouse with electric monorail System both storage from the production halls and commissioning is fully automatic-controlled. The storage in the also newly built commission hall is done via unmanned conveying system.
After they have been weighed, Subsets and mixing pallets are labeled, commissioned with the help of the forklift guidance system terminal and provided to the dispatch area under the principle of route grouping. The new infrastructure and storage technology were integrated quickly and smoothly in existing processes – the warehouse management system dilos has been the main system steering the other partners involved.
